60 Carrington Street Membrane Replacement

Description:

60 Carrington Street Sydney is a B-grade office building with ground floor retail, located in the heart of Sydney's CBD. The property overlooks Wynyard Park and is adjacent to Wynyard rail and bus interchanges. 60 Carrington Street is owned and managed by Brookfield Properties.

The terrace was an addition to the original building. Failed waterproofing resulted in leaks due to wet weather to the offices below, causing damage to ceiling tiles. After inspection of the existing terrace, a specification to replace the membrane was provided by ARUP.

Key Aspects:
Freyssinet Australia was contracted to replace the failed membrane on the level 4 terrace.
The works consisted of demolition of the existing tiles, bedding and membrane back to the concrete substrate which resulted in over 100 tonnes of waste material being craned from the terrace.
Two layers of torch-on membrane and liquid membrane were applied along with new screed bedding to provide correct falls, and new tiles were installed across the 350m2 terrace.
All noisy construction works were successfully carried out over weekends to limit the impact on offices within the building and neighbouring properties.
