University of NSW D26 Biological Sciences Project Stage 2

Description: 

Multiplex contracted Freyssinet Australia for the second stage of the concrete repair and reinforcement of the D26 Biological building for the University of NSW. The D26 building had been fully striped and refurbished by Multiplex to host the newest technology and services for the university. Part of the refurbishment included the add-on of new openings in slabs and walls as well as partial structural and non-structural concrete remediation works.

 

Key Aspects: 
Structural concrete repairs with demolition, add-on of new reinforcement, forming and pouring.
Concrete remediation with overhead demolition, shotcrete, hand application of repair mortars and form and pours.
Concrete remediation with wall and columns demolition, shotcrete, hand application of repair mortars and form and pours.
Concrete remediation with application of 25mm of mortar on slab edges to recreate cover of reinforcement.
Structural reinforcement with application of laminated carbon strips (Sika CARBODUR S).
16,000L of concrete repairs, 750m2 of slab edge repairs and rendering 30mm, and 1,400lm of CARBODUR S applied.
