Gateway Tower Cathodic Protection Works
Description:
This project involved the cathodic protection of reinforced concrete slabs and walls in the basement carpark of Gateway Tower, an iconic high rise in Sydney’s CBD.
The system was designed, supplied, installed and commissioned by Freyssinet Australia with the intention of providing a 30 year extension of life to the building elements. The project involved working around an operational car park including the installation of over 8000 discrete anodes and 3000LM of ribbon anode over 3 levels of the car park.
Key Aspects:
Freyssinet Australia was the sole contractor on site, working with the client and consultant to provide a “best for asset approach”.
The techniques used for this project included:
o Concrete repair
o Torch-on waterproofing installation
o Coatings installation
o Cathodic protection installation
o Design of ICCP systems
The project was a 2018 ACRA Award finalist.
