Gerringong Reservoir – Coating and Roof Replacement
Gerringong Reservoir – Coating and Roof Replacement
Description:
The Gerringong Reservoir roof replacement project was part of a large reservoir roof refurbishment program that involved works on the majority of the Sydney region’s water reservoirs.
The project involved the replacement of the existing corroded and damaged roof structure – including central spider, rafters, purlins, roof sheeting, and hatches – with a new roof structure. Also included were minor coating works and the fabrication and erection of a new access tower on the southern side of the reservoir.
Freyssinet Australia’s role as a head contractor was to:
- Complete the removal of the existing roof structure.
- Organise the shop drawings of the new roof structure and the new staircase.
- Supervise the fabrication of all new steel, stainless steel and aluminium roof and staircase components.
- Erect the new roof and staircase and complete minor coating works on the reservoir top rim.
Key Aspects:
The works involved cutting, site welding, sand blasting, coating, drilling, craneage and lead paint removal techniques.
Freyssinet Australia received PCCP5 accreditation as a result of this project.
