HUET Pool Facility
HUET Pool Facility
Description:
The Helicopter Underwater Escape Training Facility is a state-of-the-art purpose built training facility used by the Department of Defence. The pool was custom built to a depth of 7.0m to allow for the specialised training. The facility was originally constructed in 2011 but because of the failure of the pool’s protective lining system, it could not be commissioned and remained unused until Freyssinet Australia’s remediation works were completed in September 2013.
Key Aspects:
Installation of a scaffold system that allowed for complete containment/isolation of the works within the pool area from the highly technical equipment around the facility.
Completely stripping the existing coating from the pool back to the concrete substrate using an abrasive blasting technique.
Application of an epoxy based protective coating system including an epoxy render base to the concrete substrate. In addition, Freyssinet’s scope comprised of comprehensive non-destructive testing and other QA.
Installation of custom built cameras & underwater lighting as required for the specialised training.
