E.I.I. Cathodic Protection Upgrade
Description:
These works included removal of the existing cathodic protection system at the East Intercourse Island Wharf in Dampier, Western Australia. Freyssinet was also contracted to supply, install and commission a new impressed current cathodic protection system.
Key Aspects:
Installation of scaffold in the area outlined.
Supply and installation of 2no. DC transformer rectification units (TRU), anodes and continuity bonds.
Removal and disposal of Transformer Rectification Unit 1 – oil cooled, existing anodes, cable and mounting hardware.
Working in a remote area and working over water.
Removal and disposal of the existing cathodic protection system, oil cooled TRU 1 and TRU 2.
Design and supply of the new TRU.
Supply and install of a complete working impressed current CP system.
CP testing facilities with 55 test points.
Pre-commissioning report, operations and maintenance manual.
Installation of dolphin cross-bonding plates and cabling.
Provision of temporary scaffolding to access cable trays and any other items not accessible from the deck.
Repairs to lay-by-berth cathodic protection system.
Training of Rio Tinto’s operations and maintenance personnel and the CP Consultant in the basic operation of the TRU such as power-on, power-off and maintenance functions.
Management of subcontractors for electrical and pre-energisation works, welding, fabrication and steel and access.
