Central Plaza – Baseman CP
Central Plaza – Baseman CP
Description:
Central Plaza 1 is a 42-story office tower located in the Brisbane CBD.
Designed by renowned Japanese architect Kurokawa, at the time of its construction in 1988 it was the tallest building in Brisbane. Subsequently constructed in more recent years have been the Central Plaza 2 and 3 towers. Based on the performance specifications developed by remedial consultants Arcadis, Freyssinet Australia provided a design and construct solution to arrest corrosion in the basement carparks utilising impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP).
Key Aspects:
Works included concrete repair and replacement of reinforcement, prior to installation of 4,115No discrete anodes throughout the three basement levels
Wet wall drainage was improved after installation of new toppings and membranes, with all materials compatible with the cathodic protection system
The works were completed on night shift outside of normal hours, with minimal disruption to the operation of the inner city carpark.
