Ingleburn Reservoir – Coating & Roof
Ingleburn Reservoir – Coating & Roof
Description:
The Ingleburn Reservoir was built in 1974 as part of Hawkesbury-Nepean Water System. The Reservoir has a diameter of 69.0m, water depth of 13.1m and a capacity of approximately 45ML.
Ingleburn Reservoir was suffering minor to severe corrosion of the internal roof structure as well as advanced deterioration of the wall coating system on the top strake. Due to the combination of the corrosion to the roof structure and the original design being under capacity when subjected to wind loadings, the client decided to replace the roof of the reservoir and the coating of the top strake.
Key Aspects:
The project objectives were met through the delivery of the reservoir roof replacement and partial relining, delivering an epoxy coating solution to meet current Sydney Water specifications, and a superior aluminium roof with HDG and aluminium structure to provide maintenance and lifecycle benefits.
The scope of works included but was not limited to:
o Existing roof structure demolition & partial existing epoxy coating lining removal.
o New roof structure installation.
o New coating system application.
The activities and risks for these works included:
o Working in a confined space.
o Working at heights.
o Mobile plant and equipment.
o Inclement weather including frequent high winds.
o Presence of hazardous substances (lead, PAH).
o High pressure abrasive blasting.
o Ultra-high water jetting.
o Working on isolated assets.
